Kanyakumari Marathon: Students run for a drug-free future

Kanyakumari Marathon, co-hosted by The Federal, spreads a powerful message on health and addiction-free living

The Kanyakumari Marathon, co-hosted by The Federal and Bethesda Hospital in Nagercoil on Sunday (May 4), drew enthusiastic participation from students across the region, all united by a shared mission: to champion health, fitness, and a drug-free lifestyle.

With students racing not just for medals but for a meaningful cause, the event successfully amplified awareness about the importance of leading an addiction-free life. The finish line was a moment of pride, as winners received the prestigious Stalin Rolling Trophy and achievement certificates, presented by the District Superintendent of Police.

The men’s category saw Mari Sarath, Vinothkumar, Adharsh, Esakkimuthu, and Jefrin bag the top prizes, while the women’s category was led by Chitra, Harishma, Deepishka, Sobiya, and Anlin Lenin, claiming first to fifth positions respectively.

The atmosphere at the event was electric, as students celebrated their victories and the deeper message of the marathon. The proud winners stood tall as they accepted their awards, symbolising not just personal triumph but a commitment to a healthier community.

Among the dignitaries present was Dr. Levins Danny, Managing Director of Bethesda Hospital, who expressed his pride: “It’s heartwarming to see young people come together for such an important cause.”

George Ruskin, Managing Director of Mannava Milk, and Vijayakumari, former State Physical Education Inspector, also graced the occasion, alongside Arul Kannan, Correspondent of Rojavanam School, adding further encouragement to the young participants.

The marathon wasn’t just about physical endurance — it was about building a movement for fitness and wellness among youth. Participants and organizers alike emphasised the need to foster healthier habits and discourage substance abuse in society.
