Financial service providers across India are deploying multi-pronged strategies to capture festive consumer spending, leveraging product diversification and targeted messaging to drive engagement.

Financial marketplace Paisabazaar has expanded into daily retail savings through strategic merchant partnerships, while Invesco Mutual Fund has launched a nationwide campaign aimed at converting festive cash gifting into long-term investment habits.

Retail vouchers and instant lending

Paisabazaar, the marketplace division of PB Fintech, announced the launch of ‘Paisa Vouchers,’ marking its foray beyond loans and credit monitoring into consumer shopping rewards. Developed in technical partnership with Pine Labs, the feature offers digital gift cards across 300-plus merchant brands, including Amazon, Flipkart, Swiggy, Tanishq, MakeMyTrip, Starbucks, and Shoppers Stop.

The integration imposes no convenience or platform fees on users, supporting payments via Unified Payments Interface (UPI) and debit cards. The move aims to increase platform retention by capitalizing on routine consumer transactions across retail, travel, food delivery, and luxury services.

Addressing the strategic rationale, Santosh Agarwal, Chief Executive Officer of Paisabazaar, emphasized building engagement beyond traditional financial transactions.

"While credit and investments remain the core of our business, we also see an opportunity to create more value beyond these needs," Agarwal said. "In partnership with Pine Labs for voucher issuance, we aim to make savings more accessible across shopping, lifestyle and gifting. Our endeavour is to help consumers get more out of their everyday spending, put more money back in their pockets and make Paisabazaar a more rewarding destination at every interaction."

Technical upgrades and operational expansion

The consumer rewards launch follows recent infrastructure enhancements to Paisabazaar's core lending business. The platform strengthened its instant personal loan program to encompass 18 lending partners, including HDFC Bank, Axis Bank, YES BANK, IDFC FIRST Bank, Federal Bank, IndusInd Bank, and non-banking financial companies (NBFCs) such as L&T Finance, Poonawalla Fincorp, Tata Capital, and Hero FinCorp.

Leveraging video-KYC and automated risk assessments via its proprietary SmartMatch system, the program offers eligible borrowers instant personal loans up to ₹7 lakh with disbursals completed within one to two hours.

The technical upgrades align with steady operational expansion. Paisabazaar reported a 22 per cent year-on-year growth in core disbursals for Q2 FY2027, driven primarily by a 30 percent increase in unsecured loan originations across its 70-plus partner network.

SIPs as festive legacy

In parallel, asset management companies are using cultural narratives to direct household festive liquidity toward structured market instruments. Invesco Mutual Fund launched its #NayaRiwaaz campaign, encouraging families to complement or replace traditional cash gifts (lifafas) with Systematic Investment Plans (SIPs).

Conceptualized alongside Analogue Studio, the campaign centers on intergenerational financial discipline, encouraging retail investors to view asset creation as a modern family tradition.

Ameya Ingle, Director & Head of Marketing at Invesco Mutual Fund, noted that the initiative seeks to align financial planning with domestic spending habits during major cultural milestones.

"Diwali is a festival of traditions, family and new beginnings. We wanted to show how one small gesture, repeated with love and intent, can become something much bigger over time," Ingle said. "With #NayaRiwaaz, we celebrate the idea that investing can become a meaningful family tradition, much like the rituals and values that are passed down through generations. While gifts bring joy in the moment, the habits and values we pass on can stay with us for generations."

Invesco Asset Management (India) reported average assets under management (QAAUM) of ₹1,75,623 crore for the quarter ended September 2026 across mutual funds, portfolio management services (PMS), and offshore advisory mandates.

Market takeaway

The simultaneous moves illustrate a clear operational pivot among Indian financial institutions: digital aggregators are integrating lifestyle micro-transactions to boost active user metrics, while fund houses are leveraging festive sentiments to deepen systematic investment penetration across retail demographics.
