In yet another case of examination paper leak, the Teachers Eligibility Test (TET) in Maharashtra which was scheduled to be held on Sunday (June 27) has been postponed after question papers were allegedly leaked.
Exam put on hold
Confirming the development, Maharashtra State Examination Council announced in a statement that the TET examination was scheduled to be held on Sunday but in the early hours of the day it received “confidential information” that some people were in possession of the question paper in Bhiwandi following which the local police raided the location.

Soon after officials of the Maharashtra State Council of Examination was asked to reach the spot to verify the matter and it was found that some of the question papers recovered matched the TET June 2016 question paper.
“However, in the early hours of June 27, 2026, based on confidential information, it came to light that certain individuals in Bhiwandi were in possession of information relating to the question paper. Acting on this intelligence, the Bhiwandi Police conducted a raid at the location,” stated the Council.
Questions matched
“Subsequently, officials of the Maharashtra State Council of Examination were called in to immediately verify the matter. During the verification, it was found that some of the questions in the possession of these individuals matched those in the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) June 2026 question paper. Accordingly, a criminal case has been registered at the Bhiwandi Police Station,” he added.
It further stated that following the development the examination was deferred in a bid to ensure transparency, stated the Council.
Probe before exam
“In view of these circumstances, the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) scheduled to be held on June 28, 2026, has been postponed. As the Examination Council is committed to ensuring that the examination is conducted with complete transparency under all circumstances, and since a thorough investigation into the matter is considered necessary, the examination has been deferred,” stated the Council.

“Updated information regarding the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) will be published on the official website of the Maharashtra State Council of Examination,” it added.
The Council further stated the exam was scheduled to be held at 1,028 examination centres. “Keeping in view the irregularities reported during the NEET 2026 examination, the Maharashtra State Council of Examination had put in place all necessary security measures,” it added.
