No skipping classes for Indian students in the US; they may lose visa
In a post on X, the US embassy in India asked students to “always adhere to the terms of [their] visa and maintain [their] student status”
Indian students studying in the US may have their visas revoked and lose the eligibility for future US visas if they skip classes, drop out, or leave their course of study without informing their school.
The warning came from the US government on Tuesday (May 27) amid the Trump administration’s crackdown on immigration.

“If you drop out, skip classes, or leave your program of study without informing your school, your student visa may be revoked, and you may lose eligibility for future US visas. Always adhere to the terms of your visa and maintain your student status to avoid any issues,” the post read.
Relief for students
In the meantime, several international students have won court cases against the Donald Trump administration, thus stopping their deportation.
On Thursday (May 22), US District Judge Jeffrey S White in Oakland barred the government from arresting, incarcerating, or moving students elsewhere until the case was resolved, news agency AP reported.

Deportation threat
However, that does not stop the government from arresting students or revoking their legal status for other reasons.
The US embassy had on May 17 warned in another X post that if anyone stayed on in the “United States beyond [their] authorised period of stay, [they] could be deported and could face a permanent ban on travelling to the United States in the future”.
