Will strive to build a world-class cricket stadium in Coimbatore: CM Stalin
The Tamil Nadu chief minister made the remark in response to a request from his cabinet colleague TRB Rajaa who came across many talented sports enthusiasts during campaigning
After his cabinet colleague TRB Rajaa requested for a world-class multi-purpose stadium to be built in Coimbatore for sports enthusiasts, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin on Sunday (April 7) assured to make efforts to establish a modern cricket stadium in the city.
"As a sports and cricket enthusiast, I would like to add one more promise to our election manifesto for #Elections2024: We will take efforts to establish a state-of-the-art cricket stadium in Coimbatore, with the active participation of the sports loving people of #Coimbatore," Stalin said in a post on X.
His response came after his cabinet colleague and Industries Minister TRB Rajaa made a plea in this regard on the social media platform, seeking such a facility in the western hub. “Given the amazing talents that are available in and around #Kovai and the genuine need for another World-class Cricket Stadium in TN, I request the Honourable #ChiefMinister Thiru @mkstalinavargal to establish a brand new World Class multi-purpose #Coimbatore_International_Cricket_Stadium ... or... #CICS,” Rajaa wrote on X.
Chief Minister Stalin did not take much time to respond. "As highlighted by our Minister @TRBRajaa, this stadium aims to be Tamil Nadu's second international-standard cricket venue after Chennai's iconic MAC stadium. Our government and Sports Minister @Udhaystalin are committed to nurturing talent and enhancing sports infrastructure in Tamil Nadu," he wrote back on X.
