Actor Samantha Ruth Prabhu has sparked a fresh round of online discussion by liking a post about men abandoning their sick partners.
The post, shared by the Instagram page Successverse, highlighted a startling statistic that men are 624 per cent more likely to leave a partner who becomes terminally ill, while women care for their sick spouses.
Samantha, who has personally battled myositis, an autoimmune condition, simply 'liked' the post, which did not go unnoticed by fans and followers.

Viral Instagram post
The viral Instagram post shared excerpts from a video originally posted by the YouTube channel, Diary Of A CEO.
In the clip, two relationship experts dissect the psychological and societal reasons behind such emotional abandonment.
They cite gender roles, social conditioning, and emotional bandwidth as contributing factors to the disparity in behaviour between men and women when partners fall seriously ill.
In two weeks, the video has received over 60k views, fueling conversations on gender dynamics in caregiving.

Battle with myositis
In 2022, Samantha revealed that she has been battling myositis — an incurable autoimmune disease where the body's immune system attacks the muscles, causing pain, weakness, and inflammation.
Her health battle was made public just after her divorce from actor Naga Chaitanya, with whom she was married from 2017 to 2021.
