Musk era ‘not over’ in US govt, he will continue to be advisor: Vance
Elon Musk announced that his time as a special government employee had ended
US Vice President JD Vance has clarified that Elon Musk’s role in the American government will continue, and he will be “an important advisor” to him and President Donald Trump.
On Wednesday (May 28), Musk announced that his time as a special government employee had ended.

Tesla chief Musk’s departure comes one day after he criticised the centrepiece of Trump's legislative agenda, saying he was “disappointed” by what the president calls his “big beautiful bill". The legislation includes a mix of tax cuts and enhanced immigration enforcement.
“As my scheduled time as a Special Government Employee comes to an end, I would like to thank President @realDonaldTrump for the opportunity to reduce wasteful spending,” Musk wrote on his social media platform X (formerly Twitter).

“The @DOGE mission will only strengthen over time as it becomes a way of life throughout the government,” he added.
What Vance said
Now, Vance, in an interview with Newsmax TV, said the Musk era is not over. “I think what he has done is really incredible. People sort of forget that when he came in to the US government, we never had a full-scale effort to check if we are spending the American people’s dollar wisely,” Vance said.
“I think there is also an effort by the media to sort of say the Elon era is over and I think that is totally wrong. Now he has obviously the day job to run his companies but the DOGE effort will continue, Elon will continue, he will be an important advisor to me and Trump,” he added.
Earlier, Trump praised Musk as “terrific”. “I am having a Press Conference tomorrow at 1:30 P.M. EST, with @ElonMusk, at the Oval Office. This will be his last day, but not really, because he will, always, be with us, helping all the way. Elon is terrific! See you tomorrow at the White House,” a post on White House’s official X handle said on Thursday (May 29).
