Iran-linked operative planned to assassinate Ivanka Trump: Report
US investigators reportedly linked an Iraqi national to an alleged plot targeting Ivanka Trump, citing IRGC ties and evidence recovered during arrest
As the US carried out military action against Iran, a separate development tied to tensions between the two countries reportedly emerged in Washington, involving an alleged assassination plot targeting President Donald Trump's daughter, Ivanka Trump.
According to a report by The New York Post, investigators linked the alleged plan to an operative said to have received training through Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
Extradition and alleged revenge motive
The individual identified in the report, an Iraqi national Mohammad Baqer Saad Dawood Al-Saadi (32), was recently extradited to the US after being arrested in Turkey on May 15.

According to authorities his actions were connected to a long-standing desire for revenge following the killing of Iranian military commander Qasem Soleimani in a US drone strike near Baghdad airport on January 3, 2020, during Trump's first presidential term.
The Iranian commander led the IRGC's Quds Force. Al-Saadi had reportedly "pledged" to target Ivanka after Soleimani's death.
Investigators cite recovered material
The report further stated that investigators found material suggesting the alleged threat had progressed beyond mere rhetoric. During Al-Saadi's arrest, authorities recovered a blueprint of Ivanka Trump's residence in Florida.

Al-Saadi in 2021 posted an image on X showing a map of the Florida area where Ivanka and her husband Jared Kushner own a residence valued at around $24 million. Alongside it, he posted the message: "Revenge is a matter of time".
"I say to the Americans, look at this picture and know that neither your palaces nor the Secret Service will protect you. We are currently in the stage of surveillance and analysis," the message, originally posted in Arabic, read.
Claims of broader links
According to former Iraqi Embassy military official Entifadh Qanbar, Al-Saadi had also repeatedly spoken of retaliating against Trump after Soleimani's death.
"Al-Saadi went around telling people, 'we need to kill Ivanka to burn down the house of Trump the way he burned down our house'," said Qanbar as quoted in the report.
The report further stated that authorities have also linked Al-Saadi to several alleged attacks on US and Jewish targets, while his reported ties to Iran-backed Kata'ib Hizballah have further drawn attention to his background and activities.
