PM Modi: 'Congress rarely comes back to power'
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said the people of Haryana have stamped out falsehood and ensured the victory of truth, development and good governance as the BJP registered its third consecutive victory in the state.
Addressing party workers at the BJP headquarters here, Modi said the conduct of peaceful elections in Jammu and Kashmir was the victory of India’s Constitution and democracy.
Modi said whenever the BJP forms a government in any state, people support it for a long time and put "no entry" boards for the Congress.
"Congress rarely comes back to power. It was 13 years ago that the Congress came back to power in Assam and there are some states where the Congress has not returned to power for 60 years," he said.
"Once the people throw out Congress, they do not let it come back. They put 'no entry' boards for Congress... it is a party that always thought power was its birthright," the prime minister said.
Modi said the people of Haryana have done wonders and ‘kamal’ (lotus) has bloomed everywhere.
He said the Congress tried to provoke Dalits, tribals, farmers and youth in all possible ways, but people saw through its tricks and propaganda and rejected the party.
"In the land of Gita, truth and development and good governance have won," the prime minister said.
"Today in Haryana, the guarantee of development has trumped falsehood," Modi said, accusing the Congress of indulging in an international conspiracy to defame the country.
He also alleged that the Congress has become a 'parasite' (par jeevi) that is dependent on its alliance partners and at times, ends up swallowing them.
Modi said Haryana was established in 1966, and to date, 13 elections have been held in the state.
"In 10 of these elections, the people of Haryana changed the government every five years. However, the people of Haryana have achieved something remarkable. For the first time, a government has been given the opportunity for the third consecutive time," Modi said.

Priority of alliance govt in J-K will be to restore statehood: Congress
Congress general secretary in-charge communications Jairam Ramesh said the people of Jammu and Kashmir have given a clear, decisive, and convincing mandate to the NC-Congress alliance.
"The priority for the alliance government will be the restoration of full statehood for the UT of J&K. Of course, we have our manifestos, we will have a common programme. Both Congress and National Conference are duty bound to give a government, an administration that is responsible, responsive, accountable and transparent to the people of Jammu and Kashmir," Ramesh said at a press conference at the AICC headquarters.
"I just want to say that the people of Jammu and Kashmir have defeated the mischievous designs of the BJP to engineer a majority of its own," he said.

PM Modi: 'People have scripted history'
"People have scripted history by blossoming lotus (BJP's symbol). Today is the sixth day of Navrati, a day to worship Ma Katyayani who rides a lion and holds a lotus, and she is blessing all of us. On this auspicious occasion, lotus has blossomed for the third straight time in Haryana," said Prime Minister Narendra Modi while addressing BJP workers at party headquarters in New Delhi.

Not staking a claim to chief ministership of J-K: Omar Abdullah
National Conference (NC) vice president Omar Abdullah on Tuesday said the INDIA bloc will stake claim to form the government in Jammu and Kashmir only after the alliance partners meet to elect the leader of the coalition in the assembly.
"Let the NC legislative party meet, I am not staking a claim to the chief ministership of J-K. It is for the alliance and the elected members to decide who they feel should lead the state over the next five years, and that is as far as I am willing to go," Abdullah told reporters outside his residence here.
His remarks came after his father and NC president Farooq Abdullah announced Omar would be the chief minister.
The junior Abdullah said that as grateful as he was for the vote of confidence reposed in him by the NC president, "this is a decision for the legislative party of the NC" and a decision to be taken by the allies together.
Let the party celebrate its win and colleagues heave a sigh of relief before a meeting of the NC's legislative party takes place, he added.
"In a couple of days, we will call our legislative party meet where the NC legislative party leader will be elected. Then, we will sit with the alliance to decide who will head it. Then, when we have all the letters of support, we will stake our claim to the LG for government formation," Omar Abdullah added.
The NC leader said the mandate proves that the people have voted against the BJP's politics in Jammu and Kashmir.
"There was no division of votes in Kashmir and the higher reaches of Jammu. I think the people used their vote thoughtfully. It is now the responsibility of the alliance to provide a clean government which comes up to the expectations of the people," he added.
