Operation Sindoor LIVE | Blood and water can't flow together: Modi tells Pakistan
In a televised address to the nation, PM Modi said India has only temporarily halted its counter-terrorism operations against Pakistan
Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared on Monday (May 12) that India has temporarily halted its counter-terrorism operations against Pakistan but warned that New Delhi is prepared to respond decisively to any threats.
In a televised address to the nation, Modi said, "In the coming days, we will observe Pakistan's behaviour and decide our actions on the basis of that."
The Prime Minister saluted India’s Armed Forces for its bravery. He also said Pakistan's 'nuke blackmail' won't work with India anymore.
'Not the era of terror'
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday asserted that this is not an era of war but not of terrorism either.
The PM said on Monday that for India to uphold peace, it must be strong, and when necessary, that strength must be exercised.
"This is not an era of war, but it is not an era of terrorism either. Unity is India's greatest strength in the fight against all forms of terrorism. Zero Tolerance against terrorism is the guarantee of a better and safer world," he said.
Modi asserted that Pakistan's military and government have continuously nurtured terrorism, warning that such actions will eventually lead to Pakistan's own downfall.
He declared that if Pakistan seeks survival, it must dismantle its terror infrastructure—there is no other path to peace.
'Terror and talks can't co-exist'
He reaffirmed India's firm stance, stating that terror and talks cannot coexist, terror and trade cannot run parallel, and blood and water cannot flow together.
"Any discussions with Pakistan will focus solely on terrorism and any negotiations with Pakistan will centre around Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK)," he said.

Questions remain unanswered after PM's address to nation: Prithviraj Chavan
Senior Congress leader Prithviraj Chavan on Monday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi's address to the nation after Operation Sindoor was high on rhetoric but left several questions unanswered.
Talking to PTI, Chavan said there was no mention of whether the Kashmir issue has been internationalised, and also of the Simla agreement.
''US president Donald Trump has managed to hyphenate the India-Pakistan relationship and has treated India on par with Pakistan. Is India ready to accept this position,'' Chavan asked.
"Now if there is a fresh terror attack, India will start war which means any two-bit terrorist can carry out a terror attack and there will be war," he said.
Modi should have spoken about whether the Indian response was ''beyond imagination'' as he had promised in Bihar after the Pahalgam terror attack, the former Union minister said.
The PM should have responded to Trump's latest speech saying he will not do trade with India and Pakistan unless they stop war, he said.
''What happened to the Pahalgam terrorists? Who were the Americans talking to, the political leadership, military or bureaucrats,'' Chavan asked.
''The Prime Minister's speech was full of rhetoric and he did not answer questions," he said.
He also said that there was no clarity about losses on either side.
The PM was also silent on the issue of an all-party meeting or a special session of Parliament (as demanded by Congress), said Chavan.
NCP (SP) spokesperson Clyde Crasto told PTI that Pakistan cannot be trusted. ''We have to be alert and make sure that a third-party mediation is not allowed," he said.
In his first address to the nation after Operation Sindoor, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday sternly warned Pakistan that India will not succumb to nuclear blackmail and sent a clear message to the world: terror and trade, terror and talks cannot go together.
"Operation Sindoor is India's new policy against terrorism. We have only kept in abeyance our operations against Pakistan and the future will depend on their behaviour," Modi said. PTI

Won't tolerate nuclear blackmail: PM Modi
"Operation Sindoor is the new normal under which India will give a befitting reply to terrorist attacks. We will not tolerate any nuclear blackmail. We will strike terrorists hiding behind nuclear blackmail. Presence of senior Pakistan Army official at the funeral of terrorists is the example of state sponsored terrorism," says PM Modi.
