Suchana Seth, CEO under trial for son's murder, booked for assaulting cop in jail
Bengaluru CEO Suchana Seth, accused of killing her son, faces a fresh FIR this time for assaulting a woman cop inside Colvale Central Jail, where she is lodged
Bengaluru-based AI start-up CEO Suchana Seth, currently under trial for the murder of her four-year-old son at a Goa hotel in January 2024, now faces a fresh criminal charge for assaulting a policewoman inside Goa’s Colvale Central Jail.
Goa police have registered an FIR against Seth under sections 121(1) and 352 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for physically attacking a lady police constable.
The assault reportedly occurred when Seth took the inward register (keeping track of incoming items, such as mail, documents etc.,) of the women’s prisoner block without permission and became violent when questioned.

Prison altercation
The FIR stated that Seth verbally abused the police officer using filthy language, then proceeded to push, kick, and assault her, including pulling her hair, thereby inflicting bodily injuries.
The incident reportedly happened on Monday (April 7) within the jail premises. Seth is said to have interfered with official duties, leading to charges that include intentionally insulting and hurting a public servant.
Murder case details
Seth’s initial arrest came in January 2024, after Goa police discovered her son’s body stuffed in a suitcase while she was travelling to Karnataka in a taxi.
Earlier that week, she had checked into a service apartment in Candolim, Goa. Hotel staff found bloodstains in her room, prompting them to alert police.
Upon being questioned, Seth falsely claimed her child was with a friend in Margao, South Goa. The address turned out to be fake.
Police then detained her in Chitradurga, Karnataka, and recovered the child’s body from her luggage.
The chargesheet, filed by Goa Police, attributes the child’s death to “shock and respiratory asphyxia due to strangulation”.

Ongoing custody battle
Seth has remained in judicial custody since her arrest. Police have recorded statements from nearly 59 witnesses and filed a 640-page chargesheet.
A handwritten note discovered in Seth's luggage indicated that she was distressed by the ongoing custody battle with her estranged husband over their son.
With the new assault charge, Seth’s legal troubles appear to be deepening, casting a shadow over a case already riddled with trauma and controversy.
