CPI(M) slams Modi’s absence at all-party meeting on Operation Sindoor
Union government should "continue pursuing diplomatic actions” and “should see that the situation does not escalate”, writes MP John Brittas
CPI(M) Rajya Sabha member John Brittas on Thursday (May 8) “regretted the absence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for a second consecutive time” from an all-party meeting in the wake of ‘Operation Sindoor’.
Representing the party at the gathering in New Delhi, Brittas urged the Centre to convene such meetings with the participation of the prime minister and also called for a special session of parliament.
All for diplomacy
In the context of the government’s claim that the “intended objectives of the operation are achieved”, he warned that “given the past experience, it is doubtful if such military action will be able to target and eliminate terrorist groups”.

Brittas “emphasized that the government should continue pursuing diplomatic actions” and “should see that the situation does not escalate”.
He also “urged the government to ensure the protection of the people in the border areas” and to counter “the spread of all kinds of misinformation”.
Stressing that terrorism has no religion, Brittas said the government must curb the spread of hate even as it combats terrorism.
Brittas hails Kashmiris
He lauded the people of Pahalgam and Jammu and Kashmir and “demanded that the government lead an all-party delegation to Kashmir at an appropriate time”.
