Fawad Khan in trouble with Pak, Indian fans after 'shameful attack' post

After India's Operation Sindoor, Fawad expressed his “deepest condolences” to those injured and killed in the “shameful attack” in an Instagram post

Pakistani actor Fawad Khan seems to have landed in controversy once again and is facing brickbats from fans in both Pakistan and India.

After India's Operation Sindoor, Fawad on Wednesday (May 7) purportedly expressed his “deepest condolences” to those injured and killed in the “shameful attack”. Though, he did not mention India, Fawad said that he prayed for the souls of the deceased and strength for their loved ones in the days to come.

May better sense prevail

Further, Fawad added, “A respectful request to all: stop stoking the flames with rabble-rousing words. It is not worth the lives of innocent people. May better sense prevail. InshaAllah. Pakistan Zindabad!"

Fawad’s Instagram handle has been blocked in India, but a screenshot of the post was circulating online. However, Fawad’s post was reportedly deleted later after he received intense backlash.

His Pakistani fans were angry that he did not mention India in his message. Many felt he was not mentioning India since his Bollywood comeback film, Abir Gulaal, is waiting in the wings to be released in India.

Pak fans angry

One user wrote, "To hell with his condolences wth is this blaming everything India did on rabble rousing words?? He still didn’t speak anything against India”.

Another user shut him down saying that they don’t need his "condolences". Many users pushed for "unfollowing him" and called for the Pakistan film industry to “boycott” him. "It's high time," they said.

Call to boycott Pak actors

Meanwhile, the All India Cine Workers Association (AICWA) has renewed its call to boycott Khan and his Pakistani colleague Mahira Khan. According to AICWA, the actors’ comments were viewed as a blatant disregard for India’s efforts to defend its sovereignity.

Mahira had called India’s attack on Pakistani cities at night “seriously cowardly”.
