
'Relations are built on...': India's warning to Turkey over Pak ties
India said it expects Turkey to strongly urge Pakistan to take credible and verifiable actions against the terror ecosystem it has harboured for decades
A month after the Pahalgam terror attack, India has sent a stern message to Turkey over its support to Pakistan in the recent times. The government on Thursday (May 22) said that New Delhi expects Ankara to encourage Pakistan to address the problem of cross-border terrorism emanating from it.

Cross-border terrorism
India also asked Turkey to dissuade Pakistan from using terrorism as an instrument of state policy. “We expect Turkey to strongly urge Pakistan to end its support to cross-border terrorism and take credible and verifiable actions against the terror ecosystem it has harboured for decades,” said Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal during a media briefing in New Delhi on Thursday.
With India-Turkey ties taking a hit in view of Ankara’s support for Pakistan after the terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam, India made it clear that relations between two countries are built on mutual respect and sensitivities of each other's concerns. “Relations are built on the basis of sensitivities to each other’s concerns,” he said.
Turkish aviation firm row
On a question about the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security revoking the security clearance of Turkish-founded Çelebi Aviation Pvt Ltd, which handles ground-based services at 9 airports, Jaiswal said the issue has been discussed with the Turkish Embassy in India.
“Celebi matter has been discussed with the Turkish Embassy here. But I understand that this particular decision was taken by the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS),” he said.

Last week, India revoked the security clearance of Celebi Aviation, a Turkish company which is involved in providing passenger and cargo ground handling services at Indian airports. According to a government order issued on May 15, the decision was taken in the interest of national security.
Meanwhile, several Indian Higher Educational institutes including IIT Bombay and IIT Roorkee suspended their ties with universities in Turkey for supporting Pakistan.
