'No need to view CJP as a cause of concern, ' says RSS leader Sunil Ambekar

RSS leader Sunil Ambekar says discussions around the Cockroach Janata Party reflect democratic values, stressing the role of free media, elections and public debate

Amid the ongoing social media buzz over the "Cockroach Janata Party" (CJP), senior RSS leader Prachar Pramukh Sunil Ambekar said that different opinions and public debate are an integral part of a democratic society, adding that it should not be considered a cause of concern.

Part of democratic Process

Ambekar, speaking to reporters, further stated that India is a society well aware of contemporary developments, and it functions through a democratic process which includes free and fair elections as well as a free media and open public debate.

"We are an aware society, and we follow the democratic process. Within that democratic process, we have transparent elections, an open media, and now social media as well. Open forums take place every day,” said Ambekar.

“So, I believe that in a democracy, any kind of discussion and people expressing differing opinions should not be taken as a shock. They should be considered a part of the normal process," he added as quoted by ANI.

‘No need for RSS to rush in’

Asked whether the RSS would take part in the ongoing discussion over the CJP, the RSS leader said democratic institutions and the media are more than capable of handling the matter on their own, adding that there was no need for the RSS to jump onto the bandwagon immediately.

"These are all conversations, and the people involved will themselves deal with those issues. I believe the media is free enough to handle them. Political parties are capable, and none of our institutions is weak. They are capable of handling matters, and our system is capable as well. Therefore, I do not think the organisation (RSS) needs to rush into matters immediately," said Ambekar.

Faith in India's future

"Our younger generation, sometimes called Gen Z, is very hopeful. They have tremendous faith in India. Whatever they do is within the constitutional process. Their contribution is towards taking India forward. The youth of our country have invested all their energy into this, and that is why the nation is progressing in every field," he added.
