India’s response to Pahalgam attack should avoid regional conflict: JD Vance
US vice president also expressed hope that Islamabad would cooperate with New Delhi in hunting down terrorists based in Pakistan
US Vice President JD Vance has expressed hope that India’s response to the Pahalgam terror attack does not lead to a broader regional conflict, and that Pakistan would cooperate with India in hunting down terrorists based in Pakistan.
Speaking during an interview on Fox News’ Special Report with Bret Baier show on Thursday (May 1), Vance said, “Our hope here is that India responds to this terrorist attack in a way that doesn’t lead to a broader regional conflict.”

He added, “And we hope, frankly, that Pakistan, to the extent that they’re responsible, cooperates with India to make sure that the terrorists sometimes operating in their territory are hunted down and dealt with.”
‘Worried about hotspot breaking out’
When asked whether he was worried about India and Pakistan, Vance said, “Sure, I am worried about any time you see a hotspot breaking out, especially between two nuclear powers. We have obviously been in close contact with our friends in India and Pakistan.”
The attack in Pahalgam took place on the second day of Vance’s official visit to India with his family from April 21-24.
