
Air India crash: AAIB submits preliminary report to Govt
The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau has submitted its initial findings on the Ahmedabad Dreamliner crash to the Civil Aviation Ministry
The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) has submitted its preliminary investigation report on the Air India flight AI-171 crash in Ahmedabad to the Ministry of Civil Aviation, ANI reported on Tuesday (July 8) quoting sources.
Over 250 people were killed as the Dreamliner aircraft crashed into a medical college hospital soon after take-off on June 12.
Report based on initial findings
The ANI report further stated that the preliminary report on the Air India Dreamliner crash in Ahmedabad is based on initial findings. Earlier the Ministry of Civil Aviation had stated that the Crash Protection Module (CPM) from the front black box was safely retrieved and the data was successfully downloaded on June 15 at the ASIB lab.

US team collaborating in probe
While one black box was recovered from the rooftop of a building at the crash site on June 13 the other was found from the debris on June 16.
The investigation led by AAIB officials also includes technical experts from the Indian Air Force, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) from the United States. NTSB is US’ official investigative agency on aircraft design and manufacture.

AAIB DG leads probe
The probe team headed by the AAIB Director General also includes an aviation medicine expert and an Air Traffic Control officer. According to the ANI report, the NTSB team is currently in Delhi and is coordinating with the Indian authorities. Boeing officials are also in Delhi in relation to the crash probe.
