TCS Nashik: Bajrang Dal hits streets, seek stern action against accused

Hindutva outfits stage a massive motorcycle rally as a SIT probes allegations of sexual harassment and forced religious conversion at the IT major’s unit

Nashik, Apr 17 (PTI) Activists of the Bajrang Dal on Friday staged a protest in Maharashtra's Nashik, demanding stringent punishment against those involved in the alleged religious conversion and sexual harassment at a unit of the Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) in the city.

Activists of the Hindutva outfit gathered outside the district collector's office and raised slogans condeming the incident.

Earlier this week, the police formed a special investigation team (SIT) to probe the complaints lodged by eight female employees of the multinational company, who claimed that senior colleagues mentally and sexually harassed them, while the human resources department ignored their complaints.

Police have arrested eight TCS employees, including seven men and the female operations manager. Another female employee is absconding, according to investigators.

Protesting Bajrang Dal activists demanded stringent punishment for those involved in the forced conversion and harassment racket at the company.

TCS has asserted that it has adopted a zero-tolerance policy towards harassment and coercion of any form for a long time, and the employees allegedly involved in sexual harassment at the Nashik office have been suspended.

Tata Sons chairman N Chandrasekaran had termed sexual harassment as “gravely concerning and anguishing”, and announced that a thorough investigation is underway under the firm's Chief Operating Officer, Arathi Subramanian, to establish the facts and identify individuals responsible for the situation.

Hindutva organisations also held a motorcycle rally on Thursday, which saw the participation of hundreds of women, girls and boys. BJP MLA Devyani Pharande and other local leaders participated in the agitation. PTI
