Following a security review, the Bihar government has downgraded the security cover for former chief ministers Lalu Prasad Yadav and Rabri Devi, while entirely withdrawing the Y-category security of their son, ex-minister Tej Pratap Yadav.

Officials stated that the decision aligns with 2010 security guidelines and will be implemented in phases. Here is how the security arrangements for the family have changed.

For Lalu Prasad Yadav and Rabri Devi, their Z-plus security cover, which typically includes over 40 personnel, static guards, commandos, and convoy security, has been scaled down. Under their new arrangement, each will receive 16 police personnel, three plain-clothes women security officers, three uniformed guards, a bullet-proof car, and a pilot vehicle. They will also be provided with an escort party and pilot vehicle during travel.

The security cover for Tejasjwi Yadav, the Leader of the Opposition in the Bihar assembly remains unchanged and will continue as usual. Meanwhile, Tej Pratap Yadav will now get only one bodyguard. Officials said he would be provided with a security cover meant for former leaders and ministers.
