Delhi: IRS officer’s daughter found dead, police suspect ex-domestic help of murder
A former domestic help is suspected of forcing entry into the house, killing the 22-year-old girl, and fleeing, as CCTV footage shows the suspect near the house early Wednesday morning
A shocking incident rocked the national capital on Wednesday morning (April 22) after a 22-year-old woman was found dead at her residence in Delhi’s Amar Colony area.
The deceased, the daughter of an IRS officer, was allegedly murdered by a former domestic help, according to initial investigations. The victim bore injury marks on her head, and her neck showed signs of strangulation with a USB cable.
‘Police suspect sexual assault before murder’
Delhi Police said they received a distress call around 9.00 am from the victim’s family members. According to officials, the victim was alone at home when the incident occurred, as her parents had stepped out for their morning walk. The young woman was found lying inside the house in a pool of blood when they returned.

Family members rushed her to a hospital in an unconscious state after she sustained severe head injuries. Police also suspect sexual assault, and noted multiple deep injury marks on her face.
Suspect identified
Police said the suspect, identified as Rakesh Meena, had arrived at the IRS officer’s residence early in the morning and allegedly forced his way in before assaulting the victim. He is suspected of having committed theft inside the house, murdered her, and then fled the scene, according to preliminary findings.

Investigators said the suspect was spotted on nearby CCTV cameras around 6.00 am on Wednesday, and believe he may have been waiting for the right moment, entering the house after the parents left. Multiple police teams have been deployed to trace him, and CCTV footage from surrounding areas is being analysed to track his movements.
Police, forensic, and crime teams are currently examining the scene in detail. Officers believe the suspect chose the timing carefully, as other household staff were expected to arrive later in the day.
Suspect on the run
The victim was an engineering graduate preparing for the UPSC civil services examination.

The suspect, who hails from Rajasthan, had worked at the IRS officer’s residence for six to seven months before being dismissed. He was reportedly removed after repeated complaints from a local shopkeeper over financial disputes, including instances where he allegedly took goods on credit, claiming his employer would settle the payments.
The investigation is ongoing, and the suspect remains on the run.
