Delhi Lakshmi Yojana: Women from families with criminal record ineligible
The Delhi government plans to launch the Rs 2,500 per month scheme around Raksha Bandhan next month
New Delhi, Jul 13 (PTI) Women or their families with a criminal record will not be eligible for benefits under the Delhi government's Rs 2,500-per month 'Delhi Lakshmi Yojana', named 'Mahila Samriddhi Yojana' earlier.
According to the scheme, only the eldest woman of the family will be entitled to assistance.
The annual income of the beneficiary's family should not exceed Rs 2.5 lakh. Women already receiving a government pension or other regular financial assistance will not be eligible, according to a statement.
The Delhi government plans to launch the scheme around Raksha Bandhan next month.
The initiative aims to strengthen financial independence, self-reliance and dignity of lakhs of women in the national capital, the government said in the statement.
The scheme excludes families owning a four-wheeler and also those with a member having a criminal record.
According to the scheme document, women aged between 21 and 60 qualify for the help; the beneficiary must be a resident of Delhi for at least 10 years; only one woman per family will receive the benefit.

She said the government's objective is to ensure that only genuine beneficiaries receive the benefits. PTI
