‘I resign as MP CM’: Abhijeet Dipke posts satirical letter, 'not funny' says social media

Many social media users, however, found the post on X “childish”, cautioning Dipke that he may end up burning his fingers with such an act which “impersonates” a government office and “misuses” the government letterhead.

‘I tender my resignation’

Dipke’s letter, posted on X, came a day after a group of social media influencers heckled him in Balaghat district, where he had gone to meet the parents of tribal children who had died due to infectious diseases.

“I hereby tender my resignation from the office of the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh,” reads the pretend resignation letter posted by Dipke.

In the satirical letter, written on a format that appears to mimic the official letterhead of the chief minister, Dipke goes on to list out the “failures” that prompted the “resignation”.

“My conscience does not allow me to continue occupying this chair after the deaths of more than 30 Tribal children in Balaghat. As Chief Minister, I accept responsibility for failing to provide them with the timely medical care and support they needed. Many of these lives could possibly have been saved, and I cannot escape responsibility for that failure,” the letter reads.

Questions on compensation, accountability

The letter satirically points out that the Madhya Pradesh government initially announced a compensation of Rs 2 lakh for the family of the deceased children and raised it to Rs 4 lakh only after the tribal community protested.

Dipke goes on to accuse the government of failing to hold responsible health officials accountable.

“Our failures go beyond healthcare. While our Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi ji aka Vishwaguru, has declared the success of providing tap water to households under the Har Ghar Nal Yojna, Tribal families in parts of Balaghat still depend on river water for drinking, putting their health at risk,” the letter says.

“The situation in education is equally disturbing. In several villages, schools are in conditions worse than animal shelters. In one Balaghat village, around 75 children, from Anganwadi to Class 5, study in a single classroom. Despite repeated requests from the local Tribal community, we have failed to provide them with a proper school building,” the letter added.

CJP spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka responded to the thread, humorously posting that Dipke was “running away” from responsibility.

Post riles up social media

Dipke’s letter, however, drew widespread criticism on social media, with many users accusing him of impersonation and misusing the official letterhead, which carries the National Emblem.

Others said the post wasn’t even funny or remotely sarcastic and was more of a juvenile attempt at sarcasm.

“Misuse of govt logo Counterfeiting Misrepresentation for gain Cheating Throw the book of law at this cockroach and arrest him,” wrote one user.

“This is not funny. It reflects stupidity of the highest order. Abhijeet Dipke has crossed the limit now and has shamelessly committed criminal offences of impersonation and forgery. MP Police Department needs to act,” another posted.

Alleging forgery, many users tagging the Union Home Ministry and the police sought a probe into the matter.

“Can some police dept in Madhya Pradesh investigate this matter? The national emblem of INDIA cannot be forged/used/modified/copied by any one except the concerned authorities. Even if this tweet is deleted,it must be investigated for forgery,” one user said.

“Abhijeet what kind of a joke is this. Do you have any idea what sections are imposed in doing such kind of deed. 419,420, 467,468,120 b You are a voice of millions plz refrain your self from such stupidit acts. You are already quite famous now,” another posted.

Heckling incident

Dipke on Saturday was heckled by a group of people appearing to be social media influencers during his visit to Balaghat district. They asked him if he had come to do "politics" over the deaths of several tribal children in the region due to infectious diseases.

A viral video on social media showed Dipke apologising for visiting the area late.

The Madhya Pradesh High Court recently sought a response from the state government over the deaths of more than 30 children in the region.

Dipke visited Adori, Korka and Bondari villages on Saturday to meet the families of tribal children who allegedly died due to infectious diseases and to gather information about local healthcare facilities.

A viral video showed a woman 'influencer' sticking a mic in Dipke's face as he was driving away in a car, and asking him if he had come there to "do politics on corpses" and why he was visiting the area so late.

Dipke was heard saying he apologised for visiting the area late.

The woman was also heard saying, "A good road has been constructed here. Can't you see it?" As the situation escalated, CJP workers accompanying Dipke put him in another car and took him away.

While the CJP founder left, the woman was heard saying, "he ran away, he ran away." Local journalists said they were surprised to see this group of social media influencers from outside turning up in the remote village, and wondered if they had been sent by someone to disrupt the CJP founder's visit.
