'Being skilled is a flaw': Manish Tewari's cryptic post after Congress Punjab poll team snub
Tewari shared a cryptic post after being excluded from the Punjab poll team, as reports point to growing discontent within the party ahead of the 2027 Assembly election
Discontent has started brewing in the Congress over the party’s core team for Punjab ahead of the Assembly election in the state next year, with senior leader and Chandigarh MP Manish Tewari apparently taking a veiled dig at the leadership over being left out of the poll team, stating, “Being skilled is itself a great flaw.”
Teweari, in a cryptic post on X on Thursday (July 2), sarcastically quipped that he wished he had had an “antidote” for “insecurities of individuals and institutions!”.
“Que sera, sera, Whatever will be, will be…,” he added.
Grateful despite snub
However, the Congress MP also expressed gratitude for the grand old party, stating it has given him “enough” over the past 45 years, adding that he has also devoted his “entire adult life” working for the party.

“Having said that @INCIndia has given me enough over the past 45 years, and I have also devoted my entire adult life in the service of the Indian National Congress over the decades,” stated Tewari.
Why Tewari was left out
As for the reason behind Tewari being left out of the Punjab pol team, a NDTV report, quoting Congress sources, said that the senior leader was not included in the team as he is an MP from Chandigarh, which is outside Punjab.

Interestingly, apart from Chandigarh, Tewari has also been an MP from Ludhiana and Anandpur Sahib.
His remarks come a day after Congress announced its new organisational structure for Punjab. The party appointed chairpersons for crucial election committees and three working presidents. But it did not assign any organisational task to Tewari.
More discontent
Tewari, who was among the 23 Congress leaders who wrote to then party chief Sonia Gandhi in 2020 seeking organisational reforms, has often found himself at odds with the party leadership.

The report further stated that Tewari is not the only leader upset with the party’s choice in setting up the core team for the state. One key reason behind the internal discontent has reportedly been the decision to retain Amarinder Singh Raja Warring as Punjab Congress president.
New Punjab team
As for the overhauled Congress organisation in Punjab, Charanjit Singh Channi will reportedly head the Campaign Committee and Vijay Inder Singla will lead the Election Management and Coordination Committee. The Core Committee and the Manifesto Committee will respectively be led by Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa and Amar Singh.
Pratap Singh Bajwa has been retained as Leader of the Congress Legislature Party, while Raj Kumar Verka and Sangat Singh Gilzian have been appointed as working presidents of the Punjab Congress.
