Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann links twin blasts near BSF sites to the BJP as police investigate explosions in Jalandhar and Amritsar
A day after the twin blasts near BSF establishments in Punjab, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Wednesday (May 6) linked the incident to the BJP, stating that it was the party’s “preparation for the Punjab elections.”

Speaking to reporters in Anandpur Sahib, the Chief Minister further alleged that the BJP garners votes by spreading violence and panic among the people and the ruling party at the Centre to “stop” resorting to such acts.

"Investigation is underway into these minor blasts. This is the BJP's preparation for the Punjab elections. BJP gets votes by spreading violence and fear among people. I want to tell the BJP to stop,” said Mann.
“The people of Punjab always want peace. Wherever the BJP has to contest elections, it goes there and creates fights,” he added.

However, Punjab Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav on Wednesday visited the recent low-intensity blast sites in Amritsar and Jalandhar, saying initial findings point to Pakistan-backed elements attempting to disturb peace in Punjab.
After inspecting the Khassa cantonment blast site in Amritsar, Yadav said the incident appears linked to Pakistan’s ISI.
"We suspect that since the anniversary of carrying out Operation Sindoor is approaching, this is a part of Pakistan's ISI designs to cause disruptions in Punjab," he said.
He confirmed that a low-intensity explosion occurred near the army area on Tuesday night, after which police, bomb disposal teams and forensic experts secured the site.
"Today I visited Amritsar. Yesterday, a low-intensity explosion took place in the army area..." he said.
Yadav added that an FIR has been registered and multiple teams, working with the Army and other agencies, are examining technical, human and forensic inputs.
Twin explosions trigger security alert
On Tuesday, two explosions reported within hours of each other near major security installations in Punjab triggered a statewide security response, with police and central agencies launching parallel investigations into what authorities are treating as highly sensitive incidents. No casualties have been reported, but the back-to-back blasts near BSF establishments have raised serious concerns.

The first incident took place in Jalandhar near BSF Chowk, close to the force’s headquarters in the city. According to eyewitnesses, a parked scooter exploded in the busy market area before bursting into flames, sending commuters, shopkeepers and passersby rushing for cover.
Jalandhar Police Commissioner Dhanpreet Kaur said investigators were still piecing together the sequence of events.
“Prima facie, the facts are that a scooter parked here caught fire. We are still verifying the situation on the ground,” she said.

Hours later, a second blast was reported in the Khasa area of Amritsar, outside an Army camp located near BSF installations, around 15 kilometres from the Attari–Wagah Border. Preliminary suspicion points to a motorcycle-borne attacker allegedly hurling an explosive object before fleeing.
Amritsar Rural SP Aditya Warrier confirmed the timing of the incident.
“We are verifying the exact details. Forensic teams are also at the site and all aspects are being examined,” he said, reported India Today.
