
Lucknow influencer found dead, husband, in-laws booked in dowry case
A 24-year-old influencer was found dead in Lucknow six months after marriage. Police booked her husband and relatives over alleged dowry harassment and murder
A 24-year-old woman was found hanging at her matrimonial home in the Saadatganj area of Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, about six months after her marriage, with her family alleging murder and dowry-related harassment. The development comes at a time when the CBI is probing the Twisha Sharma dowry death case.
Police said that after the deceased, a social media influencer, was found dead, a case has been lodged against her husband, also a social media influencer with about 7.5 lakh followers on Instagram, as well as against other family members.
Dowry harassment allegations
Elaborating further, the investigators said that the deceased got married to a resident of Lucknow's Saadatganj area on December 9, 2025, adding that her family has accused her husband and other relatives of harassing her for more dowry, including a car.

Her family members further alleged that they had already given Rs 7 lakh in cash and several other items as “gifts” to the in-laws of the deceased.
They alleged that she had repeatedly informed them about the harassment she was facing at her matrimonial home. According to relatives, they had travelled to Lucknow several times in an effort to settle the dispute and convince her in-laws to stop the alleged ill-treatment.
Murder charge in complaint
Police said that a complaint was lodged by the woman's uncle, who accused her husband and his family members of killing her over unmet dowry demands.

“The complaint alleges that after the marriage, the deceased was continuously harassed by her husband and other members of her in-laws' family over demands for more dowry and a car. The complainant has further alleged that due to the non-fulfilment of the dowry demands, the in-laws murdered the deceased by hanging her on 30.05.2026,” police said in a statement as quoted by the Hindustan Times.
The FIR names the husband along with several members of his family, including the father-in-law, brother-in-law, sisters-in-law and a paternal aunt-in-law.
FIR filed, arrests sought
Police said that officers inspected the scene and sent the body for postmortem examination after completing inquest proceedings. The panchnama was conducted in the presence of the additional deputy commissioner of police (central), Jitendra Kumar Dubey.

“Based on the complaint, Saadatganj police registered an FIR under Sections 80(2) and 85 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Sections 3 and 4 of the Dowry Prohibition Act,” said ADCP Dubey.
Police teams have been formed to arrest the accused, and raids are underway. “Further legal action will be taken based on available evidence and the postmortem report,” the ADCP added.
