
'Dream turning into reality': PM Modi dubs Amaravati foundation of Andhra's hopes

Relaunching the construction of the greenfield capital city of Amaravati, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday (May 2) termed the city as a symbol of Andhra Pradesh’s aspirations while calling it a “dream turning into reality”.
Addressing a public meeting on the occasion, PM Modi said Amaravati is not just a city but a Shakti, to transform Andhra Pradesh into a developed state. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and his deputy Pawan Kalyan were also present.

“We all know Indralok's capital name was Amaravati and now Amaravati is the capital of Andhra Pradesh. This is not just a coincidence. This is a good sign for the construction of Swarna Andhra,” he further said, referring to the TDP-led NDA government's ambitious target to transform the state into a USD 2.4 trillion economy by 2047. ‘Swarna Andhra’ will strengthen the path of Viksit Bharat and Amaravati will give energy to its vision, he added.
Pays tributes to NTR
Paying glowing tributes to former Chief Minister NT Rama Rao, popularly known as NTR, Modi said the iconic leader had dreamt of a developed Andhra Pradesh. “We have to work unitedly to make Amaravati, Andhra Pradesh the growth engine of Viksit Bharat,” he said.
Referring to his experiences working alongside CM Naidu, he said “Our Chandrababu Naidu talked about me being tech-savvy. I want to tell you that when I became Gujarat’s chief minister, I closely watched how he worked in Hyderabad. I learnt a lot from him, and now I have the opportunity to implement all of this.”
Showering praise on the chief minister, PM Modi said Naidu's expertise in handling large-scale projects and adopting future technologies was unparalleled. “Be it future technology or large-scale works, Chandrababu Naidu is the man for it. So, we should do things in the best way and in the shortest amount of time,” he added.
He went on to say that Amaravati would fulfil the dreams of the youth of Andhra Pradesh, becoming a leading city in sectors like artificial intelligence (AI), green energy, and industrial development. He assured the people that the central government would provide support at record speed to help the state government turn this vision into a reality.
Development projects
The prime minister inaugurated and laid the foundation for projects worth Rs 58,000 crore, which also included relaunching the construction of the greenfield capital city of Amaravati and assured full cooperation for the development of the southern state.

Among these projects are the construction of the Assembly, Secretariat and High Court buildings and judicial residential quarters, along with housing buildings for 5,200 families.
“These projects are not just concrete structures but they are a strong foundation of the ambitions of Andhra Pradesh and Viksit Bharat,” Modi said.
“I would like to reassure the people of Andhra Pradesh, and my associates who are sitting here that you will always find me with you for the development of Andhra Pradesh,” he added.
