4 killed in Sri City explosion in Andhra Pradesh

A major explosion at the Sri City Special Economic Zone in Tirupati district on Saturday (October 3) morning has killed four people, the CMO of Andhra Pradesh said.

The explosion took place around 8 am at Till Healthcare, an industrial unit in Satyavedu mandal. Several workers are believed to have been inside the facility at the time, including employees from the night shift.

CM Naidu expresses shock over blast

“Chief Minister Shri Nara Chandrababu Naidu has expressed profound shock over the incident in which four people died in a water boiler explosion at a private industry in Sri City, Tirupati district,” stated the CMO in a post on X.

It further stated that two workers died at the site, while two others succumbed to their injuries during treatment, adding that the Chief Minister has asked officials for details and was briefed about the incident.

“Officials have informed that two people died on the spot at the time of the boiler explosion, and the other two succumbed while undergoing treatment in the hospital,” stated the CMO.

“They have explained that treatment is continuing for a person who sustained serious injuries. The CM has extended his deepest condolences to the families of the deceased. He has assured that the government will stand by the affected families,” it added.

Rescue teams rush to Sri City facility

Police, fire personnel and other officials rushed to the site after receiving information about the explosion. Rescue and relief operations were launched at the facility. Details about the cause of the blast and the identities of the victims are awaited.
