Political leaders must hand over baton to successors: Chandrababu Naidu
“We are only successors (of the party)...and have the responsibility to pass on what we inherited to our successors in future," TDP chief says in Amaravati
Launching a membership drive in the TDP, party chief N Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday (October 26) that all party leaders, he included, must give the leadership batons to others in the future.
He said this while addressing party leaders and cadres after formally launching the membership drive in capital Amaravati. Naidu enrolled as a member by paying Rs 100.
The Andhra Pradesh chief minister said the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) had faced several challenges and crises but it overcame all the obstacles.

"Several people thought that the TDP was finished. But the TDP remained forever and will remain forever,” he said.

“We all should take the responsibility of handing over the party to future generations. We are all just trustees (of the party) only.
“We are only successors (of the party)...and have the responsibility to pass on what we inherited to our successors in the future," he said.
Health insurance for party workers
Naidu said the TDP was the first political party in the country to give its workers insurance cover.
According to him, every member was entitled to a health insurance cover of Rs 5 lakh besides other benefits.
TDP’s membership drive
Naidu assured that the TDP would stand by those workers who suffered during the previous YSRCP regime.
The TDP membership drive will continue for the next 45 days. The chief minister said the party will conduct internal polls in due course.
