Tirumala, Tirupati on high alert following Pahalgam terror attack

Initial inspections are being carried out at the Alipiri checkpoint; the two pedestrian paths uphill are also being monitored

Security has been tightened in the temple town of Tirupati, and the Tirumala hill, including the ghat roads leading to the shrine and the surrounding areas, following Tuesday's terrorist attack at Pahalgam, in Jammu and Kashmir.

The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) has ramped up security and vigilance staff are conducting checks on vehicles and persons near the link road of the Tirumala ghat road.

All vehicles and devotees traveling from Tirupati to the Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple atop the Tirumala hill are being rigorously screened. Initial inspections are being carried out at the Alipiri checkpoint. The pedestrian paths are also being monitored.

RTC buses, private vehicles, and their luggage are being carefully examined at various points along the ghat road.

Temple premises

Security around the temple premises is also being closely monitored. Following alerts from intelligence agencies, TTD has further strengthened its security apparatus in Tirumala.

Luggage carried by vehicles is being checked at the Sapthagiri checkpoint in Alipiri. Luggage belonging to devotees using the footpaths — Alipiri Mettu and Srivari Mettu — is also being screened.

Vigilance officials have clarified that these actions are purely preventive.
