Tirumala Tirupati laddu tokens now available via UPI, says TTD
TTD has introduced kiosk machines at laddu counters to ease long queues or the temple prasad
The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) has introduced self-service kiosks at laddu counters to ease the payment process to procure prasad. Pilgrims can now conveniently pay for additional laddus through UPI at these machines, which are installed across various laddu counters on Tirumala.
"After successful payment, pilgrims receive a receipt which can be used to collect additional laddus at the counter without waiting in long queues," said a TTD release.
It may be noted that mobile phones are not allowed inside the temple premises.
Phased manner
Initially launched to help devotees donate to the Annaprasadam Trust—ranging from ₹1 to ₹99,000—the kiosks are now being extended to distribute the famous laddus as well.
A QR code is displayed, which they can scan using their mobile phones to make the payment. Once the payment is successful, a receipt is generated. With this receipt, they can go directly to the counter and collect their laddus.
The kiosks are being installed in a phased manner. Five kiosks have been installed for now. Devotees must enter the number from their darshan ticket or token at the kiosk and select the number of laddus they wish to buy. Staffers have been deployed to assist senior citizens and first-timers.
According to the press release, the temple body is also considering extending similar digital facilities to other service points, including accommodation and prasadam counters, in the coming months.
