Goa minister Ravi Naik warns Goans not to sell land to Delhiites

Agriculture minister Ravi Naik urged Goans not to keep selling their ancestral land since there will be no land left for Goans

Goa agriculture minister Ravi Naik has urged Goans not to sell their ancestral land to builders and people from Delhi and Hyderabad since there will be no land left for Goans.

He warned that the unchecked sale of land to non-Goans could leave locals landless and contribute to the decline of agriculture in the state.

“We should not sell our land, otherwise, Goa will not remain,” he told television reporters. “There will be no land left for Goans. People can come here, have a picnic, and they must go back,” Naik said.

According to Naik, Delhi is hot and has a lot of pollution. It is for this reason people flock to Goa and buy homes and land in Goa. “Goans should not sell their land to Delhiites, Goans should not sell their land to anyone,” he stressed.

Tourists not staying in hotels

Naik was also unhappy with tourists who travel in buses and jeeps to Goa but do not stay at hotels. Pointing out that Goa needed to preserve their ancestral land, Naik criticised some tourists who travel to Goa in jeeps and cook and eat on the roadside, “create a mess” and then leave.

“What does Goa get from them? Nothing. We don’t want such tourists who don’t stay in hotels,” said Naik.
