The accused later attempted suicide. He was found lying in a pool of blood and was rushed to a hospital. He is now out of danger

The Bengaluru Police on Tuesday (August 11) said that the man who allegedly strangulated his two minor daughters inside a five-star hotel room in the city and later attempted suicide, confessed to murdering his children due to a marital dispute and custody battle.

SG Imran, 45, the accused, confessed to killing his daughters aged eight and 10 on Monday, police said.

Accused found lying in pool of blood

A note recovered from the spot stated that he was involved in a marital dispute with his wife and suspected her of having an illicit relationship. He also claimed to have evidence of the alleged relationship, police said.

He was found lying in a pool of blood in the hotel room’s toilet with his neck slit. Police said Imran is a resident of Nagawara in north Bengaluru.

A police team was rushed to the hotel after its security manager alerted them in the evening about the suspected deaths of two children, police said.

What DCP said

GK Mithun Kumar, Deputy Commissioner of Police, North East Bengaluru, said the man is undergoing treatment at a hospital and is now out of danger.

“At Airport police station, one of the accused named Imran, aged around 45 years, confessed to having killed two of his daughters. One aged 10 years and the other aged around 8 years. We have also recovered a note from the murderer's part, he claims he has written that letter. He also talks about the marital dispute between him and his wife. There was a dispute about the children's custody, also it seems. He wanted both children's custody, but the family members did not agree, and that is the reason he says he has committed this offence,” Kumar told ANI.

“The day before yesterday, he checked into the room, but yesterday, around 4 PM, when the cleaning staff went in to check on the room. There was no response from inside the room. So that is when they called the security personnel, also. And then they tried to open the door of the room. They found two girls lying on the bed with no response. And this person, Imran, was lying in the bathroom. So they immediately rushed him to the hospital. The doctors say that he is out of danger,” he added.

He further said, “We have also contacted the wife of the accused. She also says that there was some dispute between her and her husband, and there were arguments going on about the custody of the kids. The kids were killed through strangulation. Prima facie, that is what we have found out. Based on the reports of the post-mortem, we will be taking the case forward, and we are checking if there are any other angles also present in this particular case."
