A dispute over a live-in relationship turned fatal in Bengaluru, with three members of a family allegedly stabbed to death inside an apartment in Seegehalli on Monday (June 22) night.

The accused, identified as Shwetha, along with her partner, allegedly killed her parents — Somasunder (55), his wife Muthulakshmi (48), and her younger sister Supriya (20). The triple murder took place at Sai Green Apartments in Dominic Layout, Seegehalli, Bengaluru.

Parents’ objection

Shwetha and her partner Kenneth had reportedly been in a live-in relationship for the past few months. Her parents had strongly opposed the relationship, believing it was not right for their daughter’s future.

On Monday night, Somasunder, along with his wife and younger daughter, went to the apartment where Shwetha was staying, reportedly to bring her back. Police said a conversation over the relationship soon turned into a heated argument after the family insisted that she end it.

The situation allegedly escalated, with Shwetha and Kenneth attacking the three family members with knives. Muthulakshmi and Supriya died on the spot due to severe injuries, while Somasunder, despite being seriously injured, reportedly managed to run out of the apartment and seek help. He later succumbed to his injuries.

Accused on the run

The accused allegedly fled the scene after the attack, leaving the three victims inside the house.

Following information about the incident, K R Puram police reached the spot and began an investigation. Whitefield DCP Saidulu Adawat inspected the crime scene. The bodies were sent for post-mortem examination, and a case has been registered.

Police have launched a search operation to trace Shwetha and Kenneth, who remain absconding. Special teams have been formed to locate the accused.

The exact motive and sequence of events are being verified as part of the investigation.
