Karnataka: Ex-DGP Om Prakash was having lunch when his wife 'stabbed' him
Investigation revealed that Pallavi allegedly incapacitated the former DGP by throwing chilli powder into his eyes before proceeding to 'stab' him
Former Karnataka Director General of Police (DGP) Om Prakash was having lunch when he was allegedly stabbed to death at home by his wife, according to sources aware of the ongoing investigation.
The police recovered a lunch plate near the dining table, sources said. Om Prakash was found lying in a pool of blood in the dining hall.
Sources suggest that he was at the dining table with a plate of fish curry when an argument with his wife Pallavi took an ugly turn.

Crime scene
Police recovered two blood-stained knives and a broken bottle from the crime scene. They suspect that both wife Pallavi and daughter Kriti may have been involved in the killing.
Following the attack, the duo allegedly wrapped Om Prakash's body in a bedsheet. Police also reportedly noted signs of a struggle, with the floor soaked in blood, indicating that the ex-cop may have struggled for a few minutes before succumbing to his injuries.
Sources also said that after killing Om Prakash, the mother and daughter locked themselves in a room.
Wife's confession
Pallavi is said to have contacted the police and reported the murder. Upon reaching the scene, officers found that the daughter, Kriti, had locked herself in a room and refused to come out.
Subsequently, Pallavi reportedly surrendered to the authorities and admitted to committing the crime. Kriti, however, remained unresponsive to the police’s attempts to reach her and continued to stay inside the locked room.
Eventually, the police broke open the door and took Kriti into custody. They also seized the mobile phones belonging to the deceased and the two accused.

Chilling confession
According to the sources, Pallavi, during the initial interrogation, claimed she killed Om Prakash in self-defence.
She reportedly alleged that her husband used to roam around the house with a gun, which he allegedly kept with him at all times inside the house.
She alleged that Om Prakash frequently threatened her with a gun even during minor arguments, including one on that day.
Contrasting statements
According to sources familiar with the investigation, Pallavi informed the police that on the day of the incident, it was her husband who first became violent during lunch, and threatened her with his firearm. She claimed this prompted her to retaliate with a knife.
However, sources close to Om Prakash disclosed that the latter had reportedly confided in senior police officers on several occasions that he was unable to tolerate the alleged torture by his wife.
