Ex-Karnataka DGP's wife threw chilli powder in his eyes before murder: Police
Probe reveals that the former DGP’s wife, after stabbing him to death, spoke to the wife of another police officer and told her about the murder
A day after former Karnataka director general of police (DGP) Om Prakash was found dead at his Bengaluru residence with multiple stab wounds, police said that it was suspected that he was murdered by his wife, Pallavi, who threw chili powder in his eyes, tied him up and then stabbed him to death following an altercation.
The investigators said that Prakash, 68, was also attacked with a glass bottle.
They further revealed that after stabbing her husband to death, the accused spoke to the wife of another police officer and told her about the murder. Several stab wounds were found on the victim’s abdomen and chest.

Altercation over property
Police said that a heated altercation started between Pallavi and her husband over the latter’s decision to transfer one of his properties to a relative. Soon, the altercation turned violent, and she allegedly stabbed him to death.
Police sources said that they were probing whether the victim’s daughter also had a role in the murder. A case was registered after Om Prakash’s son registered a police complaint.

Wife, daughter interrogated
Bengaluru Additional Commissioner of Police Vikas Kumar told reporters that police were informed about the incident around 4 am on Sunday. Pallavi and her daughter are being interrogated.
Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara on Monday said a detailed investigation will bring out the truth behind the murder.
"Former DGP Om Prakash has been murdered. It is said that his wife (Pallavi) has murdered him. Only a detailed investigation will bring out the truth," Parameshwara told reporters.
The minister said Prakash became the DGP when he was the home minister in 2015.
When asked about the reason behind the murder, Parameshwara said he has no clue because the investigation has started and the investigation officer has not shared any information yet.
He also expressed his unawareness of the reported discord between the couple and Pallavi suffering from schizophrenia.
