Won't allow Thug Life release in Karnataka, says KFCC
KFCC chief says the body tried to reach the actor-politician, but there has been no response
The Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC) has decided to 'ban' the release of the movie Thug Life after its lead actor Kamal Haasan refused to apologise even after the 'two-day deadline' set by the top film body. Despite mounting pressure, the actor-politician declined to apologise for his remark that the Kannada language was “born out of Tamil”.
In an exclusive interview with The Federal Karnataka on Friday (May 30), KFCC president M Narasimhulu said that Kannada organisations have opposed the release of Thug Life in response to Kamal’s controversial remarks.

''The Film Chamber stands in solidarity with the decision taken by these organisations. Distributors have already been summoned and asked to speak with Kamal Haasan. A meeting was held with theatre owners as well, and it was stressed that the film should not be released unless Kamal apologises,'' he said.
'No response from Kamal'
The Chamber has also informed Kamal Haasan via email about the growing public outrage in the state.''However, no response has been received from him so far,'' said Narasimhulu.
The development comes after the actor, expected to make his Rajya Sabha debut next month, refused to apologise for his remark stating that he would only do so if he felt that his remarks were wrong. Earlier, he had said that he made the remark “out of love.”
Political leaders cutting across parties, including Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, have condemned his remarks.
