From water conservation and natural farming to yoga and service, PM Modi laid out nine collective resolutions at Mandya's Adichunchanagiri Mahasamsthana Math on Wednesday


Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday (April 15) appealed to people to take nine collective pledges aimed at realising a "developed Karnataka and a developed India".

He appealed while addressing a gathering at the Adichunchanagiri Mahasamsthana Math in Mandya, Karnataka.

Water, trees and cleanliness lead the list

Modi's first priority was water conservation and better water management. He followed it with an appeal for tree plantation under the 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' campaign, and a call for cleanliness in public and religious places across the country.

Local products, tourism and natural farming

The prime minister also urged people to strengthen local economies through his "Vocal for Local" initiative, promote domestic tourism, and adopt chemical-free natural farming. He encouraged healthier eating habits, including greater consumption of millets and reduced oil intake.

Yoga, fitness and a spirit of service

Rounding off his nine resolutions, Modi called on people to embrace yoga and fitness as a way of life, and to cultivate a culture of service and community support.

"If we move forward with honesty and determination on these nine resolutions, we can rapidly progress towards a developed Karnataka and a developed India," he said.
