Kerala: Producer Sandra Thomas claims separate budget allocated for drugs

She further alleged that everyone was aware of what was happening on the sets, but there were no corrective steps

In a startling revelation, producer-actor Sandra Thomas has exposed the deep-rooted drug culture within the Malayalam film industry, alleging that portions of film budgets are being earmarked specifically for drugs. She made the remarks during an interview with a Malayalam news outlet.

‘No action taken’

Thomas claimed that not only are separate rooms designated for drug use on film sets, but a dedicated budget is allocated for this purpose.

"Everyone was aware of what was happening on the sets. But no one took corrective steps, as they needed these people for future projects," said Sandra Thomas.

She slammed industry associations for their inaction, highlighting that the issue has persisted for years without substantial intervention.

Sandra's allegations come on the heels of a complaint filed by actor Vincy Aloshious against her co-star Shine Tom Chacko, accusing him of harassment while under the influence of drugs during the filming of Soothravakyam.

Although Vincy chose not to pursue legal action, the incident has reignited discussions about substance abuse on film sets.
