CM Vijay appoints astrologer Rickey Radhan Pandit Vettrivel as Political OSD

Chief Minister Vijay’s astrologer, Rickey Radhan Pandit Vettrivel, has been appointed as Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to the Chief Minister (Political).

The appointment was announced on Tuesday (May 12) in an order issued by the State government. According to the order, the terms and conditions of Vettrivel’s appointment will be announced separately.

“Thiru Rickey Radhan Pandit Vettrivel is appointed as Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to the Chief Minister (Political) with effect from the date of joining. The terms and conditions in this regard will be issued separately,” stated the order.

According to reports, Vijay had originally scheduled his swearing-in ceremony for 3:45 p.m. on May 10, but the timing was later moved forward to 10 am following the advice of his personal astrologer, Vettrivel, who is said to have recommended the revised hour as an auspicious ‘muhurat’. Vettrivel is understood to have remained a close presence in Vijay’s inner circle through much of his political journey.

Political predictions

Vettrivel has been associated with astrology and numerology for over four decades and is regarded by many in both circles for his predictions. He had, on several earlier occasions, reportedly stated that Vijay would eventually enter electoral politics and go on to secure a decisive mandate.

In recent months, multiple videos featuring Vettrivel have reportedly circulated widely across social media platforms. In one such video, he is said to have referred to Vijay’s horoscope as a “tsunami horoscope”, suggesting that it pointed to an extraordinary political ascent.

Public appearances

Vettrivel had also drawn public attention during Vijay’s visit to the Tiruchendur Murugan Temple, where he was reportedly seen travelling in the Chief Minister’s vehicle. The appearance triggered discussion among supporters as well as political observers.

Following the declaration of the election results, Vettrivel is understood to have visited the Chief Minister’s residence in person and conveyed his congratulations, presenting a bouquet.
