Hyderabad: Woman trainee IPS accuses batchmate of sexual assault
Highlighting that not even future police leaders are immune to harassment, the officer files a criminal complaint detailing physical assault and stalking inside the prestigious NPA
A woman trainee IPS officer at the National Police Academy in Hyderabad has accused a male batchmate, Uday Krishna Reddy, of sexually harassing her over an extended period. After first raising the issue with the academy's senior officials, she was advised to approach the police. She then filed a formal complaint at the city's Attapur Police Station on Sunday (July 19), and a case was registered against the accused.

Trainee officer accused of physical abuse, secret filming
In her complaint, the woman alleged that on July 8, Reddy snatched her mobile phone, and the following day, forcibly dragged her into his room and tried to strangle her. She also claimed that the accused sent messages to her husband alleging she was having an affair with another trainee IPS officer. The allegations also include that Reddy had been secretly taking her photos and videos on his phone without her knowledge, causing her significant distress.

She explicitly noted in her complaint that she approached the police station on the advice of the academy's senior officials.
The woman trainee officer is reportedly from the Karnataka cadre. However, it is not yet known what action the police have taken against Reddy.
