Hyderabad to host BRICS Anti-Corruption Working Group meeting on Aug 4-5
Member countries will discuss tracing fugitives, asset recovery, extradition cooperation and technology-driven governance during the two-day meeting
The BRICS Anti-Corruption Working Group (ACWG) meeting, to be held in Hyderabad on August 4 and 5, will focus on strengthening informal cooperation to trace fugitives wanted in corruption cases and supporting extradition proceedings.
The meeting will be inaugurated by Rachna Shah, Secretary, Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT). Representatives from BRICS member countries, senior policymakers, experts, anti-corruption agencies, and law enforcement authorities are expected to participate. The meeting is being organised as a follow-up to the outcomes of the first BRICS Anti-Corruption Working Group (ACWG) meeting, which was held virtually on June 2 and 3, 2026.
The participating countries will discuss asset recovery, combating cross-border corruption, and strengthening transparency and accountability in governance. Alongside the second meeting of the BRICS Anti-Corruption Working Group (ACWG), the second meeting of the BRICS Experts Network on Asset Recovery will also be held. The event is being hosted by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), Government of India. It is being organised under India's BRICS Presidency, guided by the theme, “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability.”

Member countries will also deliberate on expanding information-sharing and operational cooperation through the BRICS Experts Network on Asset Recovery. In addition, they will exchange experiences and best practices on addressing corruption risks arising from fintech, digital assets, and emerging digital financial instruments.
A special side event titled “Ethical governance through innovation and technology-driven systems” will be held on August 5. During the session, member countries will share their experiences on digital public procurement, citizen participation, transparency, accountability, and technology-driven governance practices.
As this is the final Anti-Corruption Working Group meeting under India's BRICS Presidency, it assumes special significance. The meeting is expected to consolidate the progress made during the year and further strengthen cooperation among BRICS countries in asset recovery, combating cross-border corruption, technology-driven governance, and institutional capacity building.
