
Air India crash: DNA sampling unit set up at Ahmedabad Civil Hospital
Only close relatives of the victims, including parents or children, will be allowed to provide DNA samples; they have been requested to visit Kasoti Bhavan
The Ahmedabad Civil Hospital has reportedly arranged for DNA samples to be collected from the relatives of those who died in the ill-fated Boeing 787 Dreamliner that crashed in Ahmedabad on Thursday (June 12).
The plane, which was on its way to London as flight AI 171, with 242 people on board, crashed within five minutes of take-off and burst into flames.
Relatives urged to visit Kasoti Bhavan
A dedicated DNA sampling unit has been set up at Kasoti Bhavan of Ahmedabad Civil Hospital, Gujarat Health Secretary Dhananjay Dwivedi told the media.

Only close relatives of the victims, including parents or children, will be allowed to provide DNA samples. They have been requested to visit Kasoti Bhavan to submit DNA samples.
Burns centre keeps beds ready
Currently, around 50 injured people are being treated at the hospital, and all of them are reportedly stable.

The National Burns Centre, a specialized centre for the treatment of burn-related injuries in Navi Mumbai, has also kept 20 beds ready, news agency PTI reported. They are yet to receive any request for beds though.
Ahmedabad Civil Hospital reportedly has a 50-bed burns ward.
