Police examine bank accounts of TCS Nashik accused in harassment and conversion case as SIT intensifies probe into financial links


Bank accounts of the accused arrested in relation to the case of alleged sexual harassment and religious conversion case at the Nashik office of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) have come under the scanner as investigators are scrutinising them to ascertain whether they had received funds to carry out illegal activities.

Financial trail under scrutiny

According to a PTI report, citing police sources, investigators are examining the accused's bank accounts to determine the source of funds. However, the officials refused to divulge any further information.

An SIT is investigating the case. Police said that seven TCS employees, including six men and a woman, have been arrested so far, adding that another female employee is absconding.

Company response and internal review

The development comes a day after Tata Group chairman N. Chandrasekaran termed the allegations as “gravely concerning and anguishing,” indicating that the group had begun an internal review even as police action gathered pace.

In a statement issued by Tata Sons, he said, “This incident is being treated with the utmost seriousness,” adding that steps had already been taken against those named and that the firm was cooperating with investigators.

The company reiterated that it follows a “zero-tolerance policy towards any form of coercion or misconduct,” with Aarthi Subramanian tasked to lead the inquiry.

Police action and SIT probe

The response follows multiple FIRs filed in Nashik, where several employees have been arrested. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis called the case “very serious,” while a Special Investigation Team has been constituted.

TCS on Sunday said that the firm has adopted a zero-tolerance policy towards harassment and coercion of any form for a long time, confirming the suspension of employees allegedly involved in sexual harassment at its Nashik office.

Arrests and identities disclosed

Earlier this week, the police formed a special investigation team (SIT) to probe the complaints lodged by eight female employees, who claimed that senior colleagues mentally and sexually harassed them, and the human resources department ignored their complaints.

The arrested staffers, who have since been suspended, have been identified as Danish Sheikh, Tausif Attar, Raza Memon, Shahrukh Qureshi, Shafi Sheikh, Asif Aftab Ansari, and the female operations manager, police said.
