Meanwhile, DMK spokesperson TKS Elangovan on Friday dismissed speculation over a possible alliance between the DMK and AIADMK, saying such a political arrangement was highly unlikely. Speaking in Chennai, he said both parties have remained major political rivals in Tamil Nadu for decades, making the prospect of an alliance difficult.

Vijay visits offices of Left parties, thanks Communist leaders for support
TVK founder chief Vijay on Friday visited the offices of the CPI and CPI(M) and thanked the Left leaders for supporting his party to form the government in Tamil Nadu.
Vijay, after calling on Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar to get an invite for forming the government, visited the offices of the Communist parties in downtown Chennai and thanked them in brief meetings.
This is the first time Vijay has visited the offices of the two Left parties.
Earlier, CPI State Secretary M Veerapandian said "people have proposed democracy and we have seconded it," and accordingly the CPI extends support to TVK.
As regards protection of the state's rights and similar issues, the Left parties will continue to align with the DMK, CPI(M) State Secretary P Shanmugam said.
Welcoming the outgoing Chief Minister M K Stalin's statement urging Governor Arlekar to immediately take necessary steps to ensure that a new government is formed as per the Constitution, IUML cryptically said "its two MLAs would support the initiatives by the Governor towards the government formation." The statement by IUML top leader Prof KM Kader Mohideen is seen as a hint that IUML shall "facilitate" government formation by TVK.
