According to a report in India Today, Kaneria’s photograph was removed from the stadium. However, the report did not give details as to why it was taken off.
Kaneria's accusations
Kaneria has openly criticised his former Pakistani teammates and accused them of discrimination for being a Hindu. Recently, he hit out at former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi and alleged that he persuaded him to convert to Islam and also refused to share a meal with him.
“He has consistently aligned himself with extremist views. In my opinion, he should not be given a platform on Indian television or within the country. Additionally, he tried to persuade me to convert to Islam and declined to share a meal with me, which I found deeply disrespectful,” 44-year-old Kaneria wrote on his X (formerly Twitter) account on April 28.
Kaneria played 61 Tests for Pakistan and took 261 wickets. He made his debut in 2010 and his last Test was in 2010. Against India, he played 11 Tests and took 43 wickets.
