The left-handed opener Abhishek went berserk in the company of Travis Head as they took the team to a flying start in pursuit of 246 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. Abhishek rode his luck after being caught off a no-ball when on 28.

Maiden IPL ton for Abhishek

Abhishek reached his maiden IPL hundred with a single off Yuzvendra Chahal in the 13th over. After reaching his ton, he took a piece of paper from his pocket with the words written “THIS ONE IS FOR ORANGE ARMY!”

The hundred from Abhishek is the fifth fastest in the history of IPL. The fastest is off 30 balls by Chris Gayle, who achieved the record for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) against Pune Warriors India (PWI) in 2013.

SRH’s Abhishek and Head put on 171 runs for the first wicket, the team’s second-highest opening partnership in IPL.

Abhishek's sensational knock ended at 141 off just 55 balls with 14 fours and 10 sixes. He now holds the record for the highest score by an Indian in the history of IPL. Abhishek broke KL Rahul's record of 132 not out for Kings XI Punjab (now PBKS) against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in Dubai in 2020.
