Second-fastest ton in IPL

Opener Suryavanshi got to the three-figure mark with a six off Rashid Khan. His 35-ball ton is the second-fastest in IPL. The record belongs to Royal Challengers Bengaluru's Chris Gayle, who hit a 30-ball hundred against Pune Warriors India (PWI) in 2013.

On April 19, he had made his IPL debut against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and announced his arrival by smashing his first ball for a six.

After GT set a 210 target for hosts RR at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Suryavanshi and Yashasvi Jaiswal associated for 100-plus runs for the first wicket to lay a perfect platform.

Left-handed Suryavanshi, who is the youngest-ever to play in the IPL, was at his best, attacking the GT bowlers right from the start. He hit the second ball he faced for a six off Mohammed Siraj. Later, he hit two consecutive sixes off Indian pace veteran Ishant Sharma.

In the 10th over of the innings, Suryavanshi plundered 30 runs off Karim Janat, hitting him for three fours and three sixes in the over, to move into the nineties.

Suryavanshi's sensational innings ended at 101 off 38 (7x4, 11x6) when he was bowled by Prasidh Krishna in the 12th over. The opening partnership between him and Jaiswal was a record 166 in just 11.5 overs.

It was a night to remember for Suryavanshi as he received a standing ovation from teammates, opposition players, fans, and the coaching staff, including RR head coach Rahul Dravid.

Thanks to Suryavanshi and Jaiswal's blistering start, RR successfully chased down 210 in 15.5 overs for the loss of two wickets (212/2).
