Govt blocks Shoaib Akhtar’s YouTube channel: Reports
Akhtar is a popular figure among Indian cricket fans for his in-depth and often unhinged commentary and analysis of the game
In the wake of the Pahalgam terror attack, the Centre has blocked several Pakistan-based YouTube channels, including those of Dawn News, Samaa TV, Ary News, and Geo News. Also, former Pakistani pacer Shoaib Akhtar’s YouTube channel has also faced the axe as it is now inaccessible in India, multiple media reports said on Monday (April 28).
Popular for cricket commentary
Akhtar, popularly known as the Rawalpindi Express to cricket fans, is a popular figure among Indian cricket fans for his in-depth and often unhinged commentary and analysis of the game.
“This content is currently unavailable in this country because of an order from the government related to national security or public order,” says the message when one tries to access the former pacer’s YouTube channel.

Although according to a report by the Hindustan Times, Akhtar’s channel was not on the Union Home Ministry’s block list, but it seems to have been blocked as part of the Centre’s effort to curb the spread of content that can potentially heighten the tension between India and Pakistan following the Pahalgam terror attack, reports Times of India. The attack left 26 people, mostly tourists, dead.
