Air India on Saturday announced it will provide an interim payment of Rs 25 lakh to the families of the deceased and survivors of the Ahmedabad plane crash
A high-level committee, led by Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, will investigate the causes of the Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad (June 12) that killed 241 people. The panel comprises civil aviation officials, security experts, and representatives from disaster response.

Ahmedabad plane crash: Death toll touches 270, say doctors
The death toll in the Air India plane tragedy touched 270 on Saturday with doctors saying that these many bodies have been brought to the Ahmedabad Civil Hospital from the crash site so far.
Officials said the Ahmedabad Fire and Emergency Service (AFES) recovered a corpse and some human body parts in the last 24 hours from the plane crash site.
The authorities had earlier pegged the death toll at 265.
The Centre has set up a high-level multi-disciplinary committee, headed by the Union home secretary, to examine the causes that led to the Air India plane crash, and also suggest comprehensive guidelines to prevent such incidents in the future. PTI
The London-bound Air India flight, a Boeing 787 Dreamliner (AI 171) with 242 people on board, crashed into a medical hostel and its canteen complex in the Meghaninagar area on Thursday afternoon, moments after taking off from the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport.
"Around 270 bodies have been brought to the civil hospital so far from the plane crash site," President of Junior Doctors association of BJ Medical College, Dr Dhaval Gameti, told PTI.

High level will meet on Monday: Civil Aviation Minister
"Any information, any theory about the crashed will be analysed. The high level will meet on Monday and try to finish the process in three months to get a consolidated report on thr crash," says K Ram Mohan Naidu, Civil Aviation Minister.

DNA tests: It has to be ensured that there are no lapse: K Ram Mohan Naidu
"DNA tests are also going on. Gujarat government is coordinating in that. We are hoping that procedure will be over soon. But proper procedure needs to be followed to ensure that there are no lapse," says K Ram Mohan Naidu.

"We have put a time limit of three months for the high level committee to hold discussions with stakeholders. We have very strict safety protocol which we follow every time. After the incident happened, we felt the need for an extended surveillance of the Boeing 787 fleet . We have 34 of them, eight has already been inspected," K Ram Mohan Naidu.
