Operation Sindoor LIVE | Blood and water can't flow together: Modi tells Pakistan
In a televised address to the nation, PM Modi said India has only temporarily halted its counter-terrorism operations against Pakistan
Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared on Monday (May 12) that India has temporarily halted its counter-terrorism operations against Pakistan but warned that New Delhi is prepared to respond decisively to any threats.
In a televised address to the nation, Modi said, "In the coming days, we will observe Pakistan's behaviour and decide our actions on the basis of that."
The Prime Minister saluted India’s Armed Forces for its bravery. He also said Pakistan's 'nuke blackmail' won't work with India anymore.
'Not the era of terror'
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday asserted that this is not an era of war but not of terrorism either.
The PM said on Monday that for India to uphold peace, it must be strong, and when necessary, that strength must be exercised.
"This is not an era of war, but it is not an era of terrorism either. Unity is India's greatest strength in the fight against all forms of terrorism. Zero Tolerance against terrorism is the guarantee of a better and safer world," he said.
Modi asserted that Pakistan's military and government have continuously nurtured terrorism, warning that such actions will eventually lead to Pakistan's own downfall.
He declared that if Pakistan seeks survival, it must dismantle its terror infrastructure—there is no other path to peace.
'Terror and talks can't co-exist'
He reaffirmed India's firm stance, stating that terror and talks cannot coexist, terror and trade cannot run parallel, and blood and water cannot flow together.
"Any discussions with Pakistan will focus solely on terrorism and any negotiations with Pakistan will centre around Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK)," he said.

War is not romantic, Bollywood movie, says ex-Army chief Naravane
Former Indian Army chief General Manoj Naravane has slammed questions being raised on the suspension of hostilities between India and Pakistan, saying war is not romantic and is not a Bollywood movie.
Speaking at an event in Pune on Sunday, Naravane said if ordered, he would go to war, but diplomacy would be his first choice.
He said there is trauma among people living in the border areas, including children who have seen shelling and have to run to shelters at night.
"For those who have lost their loved ones, that trauma will be carried through generations. There's also something called PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder). People who have seen gruesome scenes wake up sweating even after 20 years and need psychiatric care," he said.
"War is not romantic. It is not your Bollywood movie. It is very serious business. War or violence should be the last thing we should resort to, which is why our Prime Minister said this is not an era of war. Although war will be forced upon us by unwise people, we should not cheer for it," he said.
"Still, people are asking why we have not gone for a full-out war. As a military man, if ordered, I will go to war, but that will not be my first choice," the former Indian Army Chief said.

Hotline message sent to Pak DGMO highlighting violation of May 10 understanding: Lt Gen Rajiv Ghai
Director General Military Operations (DGMO) Lt Gen Rajiv Ghai said the Indian Armed Forces on Sunday sent a "hotline message" to his Pakistani counterpart, highlighting "violation" of the understanding reached between the two militaries a day ago and India's "firm and clear" intent to respond to these "fiercely and punitively" if repeated later.
Hours after India and Pakistan reached the understanding on stopping military actions on May 10, New Delhi on Saturday accused Islamabad of breaching it.
In a late night media briefing on Saturday, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri called upon Pakistan to take appropriate steps to address these violations and deal with the situation with "seriousness and responsibility".
The DGMO during the media briefing said, "Through last night and in the early hours of the morning today, these violations were responded to robustly and dealt with as they must be." Lt Gen Ghai said the Indian Armed Forces have thus far exercised "immense restraint" and "our actions have been focussed, measured and non-escalatory".
"However, any threat to the sovereignty, territorial integrity and safety of our citizens, will be met with decisive force," he said.
"We earlier today sent another hotline message to my counterpart, highlighting these violations of the understanding between the DGMOs on the 10th of May, and our firm and clear intent to respond to these fiercely and punitively, if repeated tonight, subsequently or later," the DGMO said.
